Mag crews face abuse, lie to their customers, and get ripped off by managers
No mention of the scene in Office Space, where a magazine seller posed as former crack addict, overheard the guys' plans to defraud the software company, who ended up with 50 subscriptions to Vibe.

i was on the mag crew for 3 yrs. i had nothing but a great time! people that bitch about not making any money are people that cant sell--plan and simple! the mag crew isnt for everyone but if u like to travel and u can sell give it a shot!--united subscrption agency is a good co.----new generation sales!!!
Yeah, the article doesn't really talk to a lot of people who had positive experiences. Still wish they would have referenced Office Space though.
I was on the road for 2 years! I started out door to door And when my qouta was high enough I was promoted to car handler! I got to travel and even got payed for it! Their are pros and cons but one thing that suck is all the money I made had to go to warrants!
I started selling on a crew when I was 19. I spent 6 years on and off crew. I learned more about life and selling on crew than anywhere. I am now a sales consultant teaching wab's how to sell.
I never owed money or went into debt to "the man" while on crew. It was a tough life don't get me wrong. We partied hard but those of who made money did just fine. Everyone else eventually folded.
It is a place for the strong not the weak. If you are weak stay away. If you are strong you set your own limits. 100 sales weeks are nothin' but a thang!
i was on the road for 9 years...

I was on mag crew for 6 years. I started out as an agent and worked my way to manager. I guess i was lucky cuz people partied and had fun on the weekends but we had ACTUAL ORGINIZATION. Not every mag crew is all about drinkin and druggin!! I learned alot about myself and actually opened up the door for other sales jobs. I also placed in the top 10 of every contest i competed in. And IMAGINE IT ALL i did not once LIE CHEAT OR STEAL to do it!!! And when i trained people i trained them the right way. Not everyone who joins is uneducated and WEAK MINDED!! I quit cuz i was tired of traveling. I have been to 45 of the 50 states twice over. Sorry for the people who get on lame ass crews or have POWER CRAZED, STRUNG OUT MANAGERS.
I sold magazines for a grip. I know one thing is for sure, you can't be a w.a.b. if you want to sell books. I traveled on and off for about six years, and loved every minutes of it. Anybody who says its a scam or they never recieved their magazines either had their money pocketed by some unloyal w.a.b or got ripped by a f.a.b. (fake ass bitch) I know first hand the contest is real. I've won myself twice, on two different crews. There is alot of possitive outcomes to selling mags, more than negative one's. Any true agent knows there is money to be made anywhere from the dirtiest ditch to the dirtiest rich. I'm down to chat with any agents that want to expunge that energy you miss serving.

Crew life is what you make of it. If you are doing your job, you have money in your pocket, partying and livin the life. The people who have a negative experience are the people who never made money and weren't able to do the things the "power agents" did. If you are one of these people you need to either learn why you are not making money or get another job. It takes a strong will to succeed in this buisiness and if you are weak you will have a miserable time. People have to remember that it is a JOB and just like any other job if you are not performing chances are you are getting reprimanded or let are let go. For those that choose to take destiny into their own hands...the skys the limit and theres lots of money to be made..oh and you don't have to LIE,CHEAT or STEAL to do it. Remember its not what you say, but how you say it. Our company stresses honesty and integrity...your genuine character is why people will back you up. There are ups and downs...buts that like any other job. I love the buisiness and think its awesome that young people get an oppurtunity like this.
I was on a mag crew as well, and it was alot of life-learning experiences. There is always crap in every facet of life, if you search for it.
