Still trying to figure out producer Kanye West: is he bling bling, or is he self-conscious? He claims to be both, and his production style is now so trademark that people are copying his sped up 60s soul sample style. No one doubts Common's sincerity (or Kanye's for that matter), but this is still not as exciting as Like Water for Chocolate as the Pitchfork review claims since it doesn't have anything like "Nag Champa" or "Thelonius" or "Geto Heaven Part Two" or anything close to "The 6th Sense".
