Radiohead

"Radiohead sounds like an instrumental band that happens to have a singer." »

I always thought that Thom Yorke's voice *was* an instrument (since like Bjork, I never understood his lyrics).

Radiohead's Hail to the Thief

July 10th, 2003

Purchased Radiohead's Hail to the Thief CD.

Thom Yorke is much like Bjork in that a) his family name and her given name rhyme—that was lame, I know—and b) you can safely ignore their lyrics, because their voices are really just instruments. Their lyrics don't make any sense. (Prove otherwise!) "Sail to the Moon", "Where I End and You Begin" and "There there" are highlights. "Where I End..." is a perfect song for the end of August, which, coincidentally or not, is when Radiohead plays in Vancouver this year.

Radiohead Series in National Post

June 13th, 2003

Radiohead fans (and haters) rejoice! The National Post published a 5-part series on the band.

  1. Sticky beginning
  2. The secret of their success
  3. The day the joyful music died
  4. Their only option was to run away from the past
  5. 'The end of an era'

Slate did a series like this also. Unlike the National Post, the links to the Slate series won't die, so there's plenty of time to get to that.

Creepy Sometimes

April 19th, 2003

A MeFi user sums up why I like Radiohead and Bjork. Bjork's lyrics can be really creepy sometimes, and bad memories associated with her music have led me to not listen to her albums in a long while. Can't wait for the new Radiohead album to drop though.
